A couple in a field of yellow flowers
an open field, a campfire
A portrait session works best when the couple forgets the camera. This one started beside a small fire and moved out into open fields, with one request from me: do what you would do on a day off.
I kept the lens long and my feet still, and let them wander. The grass and the flowers were the only props, and the weather supplied the sky.

By the fire
The light went early, so we began with the warmest frames while there was still colour in the sky. Sitting down made everyone calmer than standing in a row.

Out in the field
Once the fire was out we walked. I asked them to hold hands, then to stop holding hands, and the second version was always the better picture.

The last ten minutes were on the ground. Lying in the grass is a good way to get a real laugh, and a good way to get grass stains.
We finished in the last blue light and walked back with the fire still warm on our coats. I sent a small selection that evening and the rest a week later.
